You just have GOT to wonder why...

"Smart mosques" that have very high-speed internet access via BPL (Broadband Over Powerline) on the very cheap.

“This project will offer 60 million users unlimited high speed Internet connection of 224Mbps (megabits per second) at a cost of only around RM5 (US$1.58) per user per month, which is the fastest and cheapest in the world,” he said.

Yeah, it is.

Slashdot puts it into perspective:

To add some perspective, in the US Verizon FiOS currently offers up to 30 Mbps downloads and 5 Mbps uploads starting at $42.99 a month. BPL modems use existing electrical power lines to deliver high speed Internet access and data transmission.

CC Lakeshore pays less than that per month for our DSL service, but even still...I want über-cheap Broadband Over Powerline...

{{insert petulant pout here}}

"The Sleeper Has Awakened..."

There's good, solid talk that there's going to be a big-budget move adaptation of Frank Herbert's Dune.

Sweet!

I was annoyed by the 1984 version.

I was more pleased with the SciFi Channel miniseries' covering the events of Dune, Dune Messiah, and Children of Dune...

But this is supposed to be a BIG BUDGET adaptation of Dune which stays true to the novel.

I'm a-twitter with anticipation...
